The school farm and it’s resident sheep, cattle, chickens and alpacas become stars for the day. We host a bbq or luncheon to raise funds for new or maintenance on current infrastructure. It’s an opportunity for the entire school community to understand that being a rural town all business and social activities are reliant on the local Ag community even if you live in town and have never actually been on a farm. Posters are created in class time and put up around the school with the date and also fun facts about agriculture and its impact on the community. The students seem to always love Ag Day.

TAP’s On! | The TAP (Timboon Agriculture Project) is a partnership between Timboon P-12 school and the industries / community around us to provide hands on engagement and applied learning opportunities for our students and experiences to inspire our teachers. ‘TAP’s On!’ is an expo providing an opportunity for the school’s staff and students to show their families, community, industry personnel and other educators how they have integrated agriculture and other industries within the curriculum to support learning outcomes across all areas. Invitations are extended to other local primary schools (Nullawarre Primary and Simpson Primary), with all visitors being rotated through a series of workshops (described as an ‘agriculture speed dating’ experience). TAP’s On! is based on the premise that ‘you know you know something when you can explain it to someone else’ and it reinforces or revisits the learning that was undertaken in the classroom.
